Based in Italy, the customer is a world leader in the production of products derived from corn starch. The process uses evaporative cooling towers with primary and secondary circuits to cool equipment such as compressors and turbines. The circuits are treated with chemical dosing. In order to meet environmental regulations, the customer wanted to reduce the chemical consumption and also maintenance time.

Like all industries, the food industry requires careful management of water systems, requiring they remain clear of limescale and biofilm to remain at optimum efficiency. With food production, there is an additional constraint on the amount of chemical treatment that can be added to the water.
