Brewery cooling water treatment at Obolon, Kyiv
Brewery cooling water treatment at Obolon in Kyiv had two problems to solve at once: hard deposits on a heat exchanger cover that needed a chisel, and green and black biological slime on the tube bundle and in the filters. One filter was completely blocked. A HydroFLOW® Industrial trial unit was installed across selected cooling circuits and assessed in three trials: the heat exchanger cover and tube bundle, a mechanical filter measured before and after, and a heavily fouled filter followed for 30 days. Filter contamination fell 60%, the hard cover deposits came off by hand after a month, the biological deposits disappeared and the blocked filter returned to normal without chemical or manual cleaning.
The Challenge
- Brewery cooling water treatment was needed for hard deposits and biological fouling
- Hard deposits on the heat exchanger cover required a chisel
- Green biological slime coated the cover and tube bundle
- Filters carried sticky deposits that resisted rinsing
- One filter was fully blocked by black and yellow biological deposits
The Solution
- Unit installed: one HydroFLOW® Industrial trial unit
- Installation point: selected cooling water circuits
- Trial: three trials, including a heavily fouled filter followed over 30 days
Brewery cooling water treatment was kept to the cooling circuits and measured three ways. The first trial followed the hard deposits on the heat exchanger cover and the slime on the tube bundle. The second measured a mechanical filter before and after treatment. The third tracked the heavily fouled filter for 30 days. Deposits softened enough to rinse away under running water.
