Key results
11% centrifuge polymer cut
Lower centrifuge stress
Output quality maintained

Case Study from HYDROPATH

The Challenges

  • High polymer dosing needed on dewatering
  • Risk of floc loss at lower dose
  • Cake dryness to be held near 21% for the THP
  • Centrate quality to stay within process limits

The Solution

One HydroFLOW® i160 unit was fitted to the incoming sludge feed pipe before polymer injection on centrifuge 3, during an October to November 2018 trial. The signal improves flocculation, so polymer demand falls while cake dryness and centrate quality hold.

Key Outcomes

R

Polymer use cut 11% on matched centrifuge runs

R

Cake dryness and centrate TSS within limits

R

Higher differential RPM, lower centrifuge stress

R

Switching unit off caused rapid floc loss
