Find the right residential unit for your home

Answer a few quick questions to find out which residential unit is the best fit for your property.

Limescale is a chalky, white deposit formed by dissolved minerals, primarily calcium and bicarbonate, in water. When heated, these minerals solidify and accumulate on surfaces, affecting plumbing, heating systems, and household appliances.

Limescale commonly appears on:
🔥 Inside heating systems
– Reduced boiler efficiency and increased energy usage.
🚿 Showerheads and taps – Blocked nozzles leading to reduced water flow.
🏠 Kitchen and bathroom surfaces – Stubborn stains on glass, tiles, and sinks.

Is Limescale Harmful?

Limescale is not harmful to health, but hard water can be inconvenient in daily life.

The minerals in hard water can react with soap and shampoo, leaving residue on skin and hair and making rinsing less effective. Over time this can lead to:

  • Stubborn marks on glass, tiles and taps
  • Dull looking surfaces in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Extra time spent cleaning

Limescale inside pipes and heating systems can also reduce efficiency and increase energy use.

How HydroFLOW® Helps

While HydroFLOW does not remove minerals from the water, it helps control limescale.

The Pearl unit clips around the pipe and applies the Hydropath signal. This encourages limescale to form as tiny particles in the water instead of hard deposits on surfaces.

Over time this can help reduce existing scale and make new build up easier to clean, helping you avoid many of the common effects of hard water.

Installation & Power Options for the HydroFLOW® Pearl

The HydroFLOW® Pearl comes with either a UK plug for quick DIY installation or a hardwired option for a more integrated setup.

For best results, install the unit on the cold water feed to a boiler, water heater or key appliance such as a washing machine or dishwasher.

If this is not possible, it can be fitted on the incoming mains water pipe as an alternative.

FAQs

Click below to read FAQs about HydroFLOW® products.

How does HydroFLOW® work?

HydroFLOW® uses a chemical-free signal to prevent limescale buildup, biofouling, and sediment accumulation. It also gradually dissolves existing scale, improving system efficiency without altering water chemistry.

Does HydroFLOW® work on all pipe materials?

Yes, it works on copper, PVC, PEX, stainless steel, and all other piping materials.

Where should I install HydroFLOW®?

For Domestic Units:

Install HydroFLOW® on the cold water feed to the boiler, heat exchanger, or water heater for optimal protection. If this is not feasible, it can be placed anywhere between the cold water stopcock and the boiler or cylinder.

For Commercial, Industrial, and Marine Applications:

Placement depends on the specific system. In most cases, HydroFLOW® should be installed on the cold feed to the heat exchanger or key equipment to ensure maximum protection. For complex systems, consult a specialist to determine the best location.

Is it easy to install?

Yes, install it onto the pipe and plug it in - no plumbing modifications or maintenance required.

How do I know it's working?

The unit has LED indicators:

  • Pearl and Pearl Plus have a rotating blue LED pattern, showing that the signal is actively being transmitted.
  • K40 and HS40 have a single red LED to confirm operation.
  • Commercial and industrial models have red and green light - green for power, red for signal strength.

Does HydroFLOW® require electricity?

Yes, it operates on standard mains power, using minimal energy (around £4 per year for residential units).

How long does HydroFLOW® last?

With no moving parts, units are highly durable. Residential units come with 3 year manufacturer warranty.

Commercial and Industrial units come with 3- or 5-year manufacturer's warranty, but many last over 15 years.

How does HydroFLOW® compare to water softeners?

Unlike softeners, HydroFLOW® protects the entire plumbing system without chemicals or salt, retaining essential minerals in drinking water.

Where does the dissolved scale go?

Dissolved limescale is flushed or filtered out of the system. In some cases, it settles as a fine powder at the bottom of tanks or basins, which can be periodically cleaned.

Does flow rate matter?

No. HydroFLOW® works effectively regardless of water flow rate and even treats standing water.

Will it protect my central heating system?

Yes, it prevents scale buildup in boilers, heat exchangers, and radiators, improving efficiency and longevity.

How do I see results?

Results depend on water hardness and system condition. Existing scale gradually dissolves over weeks or months, while new scale formation is immediately reduced.

What's the difference between small and large HydroFLOW® units?

Larger units have a higher power output and are designed for commercial, industrial, and marine applications.

Is the water still safe to drink?

Yes, HydroFLOW® does not change water chemistry, keeping it safe and mineral-rich.

Is HydroFLOW® covered by a warranty?

Yes, residential units include a 3-year manufacturer's warranty.
Commercial and industrial units are available with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty with an option to upgrade the warranty up to 5-years.
