Chemical free hospital cooling proven over eight months
Chemical free hospital cooling was the goal at a Las Vegas hospital, but its cooling tower had hard scale despite continuous chemical treatment, and an elevated biological count that biocide and antiscalant dosing were not resolving. System efficiency was suffering and the chemical bill was buying less and less. For an eight-month trial, one HydroFLOW® unit was fitted to the cooling tower recirculation pipe. The existing scale loosened and released into the sump for removal, chemical dosing was stopped, and the biological count came under control. The hospital held chemical-free operation for the full eight months.

With the unit on the recirculation pipe, the signal disrupts the conditions that bond scale and biofilm to surfaces. Existing scale released into the sump, where it was cleared, and no new scale formed. Biocide and antiscalant dosing was stopped and stayed stopped, the biological count came under control, and the plant ran as chemical free hospital cooling for the whole trial.
