Calorifier scale from trial to rollout
Calorifier scale was affecting the electrical calorifier system at a flagship casino hotel in Macau. Like most large operators, the hotel wanted proven results before committing to anything wider, and hot water reliability across the property was at stake. A HydroFLOW® P100 was trialled on the calorifiers in 2021 and fitted without draining the calorifier or interrupting hot water to guests. The results were verified on the property’s own maintenance records, and in January 2025 eleven units were rolled out across the property. Scale is now controlled across the hotel’s hot water system: a trial, a verification and a rollout, in that order.
The Challenge
- Calorifier scale was affecting the electrical calorifier system
- The customer needed proven results before expansion
- Hot water reliability across a flagship property was at stake
- Electrical calorifiers are vulnerable to element scaling
- Any solution had to scale from one unit to many
The Solution
- Unit installed: one HydroFLOW® P100 for the trial, then 11 units
- Installation point: electrical calorifiers, units sized to each calorifier’s pipe diameter
- Trial: single unit on the calorifiers in 2021
- Installed: 11 units rolled out in January 2025
The P100 went on in 2021 without draining the calorifier or interrupting hot water to guests. Verification used the property’s own maintenance records rather than a supplier’s numbers. The 2025 rollout repeated the proven approach with P-range units sized to each calorifier’s pipe diameter, so calorifier scale is now controlled across the whole property.
