Spa pool water saving at Water World Wallisellen
Spa pool water saving was the opportunity at Water World Wallisellen, a spa facility in Switzerland with around 600 guests a day, a reported circulation rate of 400 m³/h and 104 m² of filtration area. Fresh-water use ran at 100 litres per guest, or 21,000 m³ a year, and every litre of replacement water also had to be heated, driving up water, wastewater and heating costs. A HydroFLOW® unit was installed on the spa pool circulation system, and the reported operating conditions were maintained. Fresh water fell to 60 litres per guest, saving 8,400 m³ and 39,080 kWh of heating a year.
The Challenge
- Spa pool water saving was needed to cut high fresh-water demand
- Fresh water consumption was 100 litres per guest
- Annual fresh-water demand reached 21,000 m³
- Replacement water added to heating demand and wastewater costs

The Solution
- Unit installed: one HydroFLOW® unit on the spa pool circulation system
- Circulation rate: 400 m³/h
- Filtration area: 104 m²
- Guests: approximately 600 a day
For spa pool water saving without changing how the pool ran, the HydroFLOW® unit went on the circulation pipework and the reported operating conditions were kept the same. Fresh-water demand was then compared per guest and per year, along with the heating needed for replacement water and the cost of water and wastewater.
