A water softener alternative at 923 ppm in Santa Fe
A water softener alternative was the only option for a Santa Fe resort on well water at 923 ppm, or 54 grains per gallon. Softener discharge would have affected the resort’s own wastewater facility, each of the 64 casitas had its own water heater, and annual maintenance was running at $15,000. Two HydroFLOW® S38 and HS40 units were installed for a four month trial. After scale reduction was observed on the heating elements, the resort rolled out larger i Range units across the water heaters, well supply, cooling tower and hot tubs. Maintenance fell across the heaters, and the system has now been running for more than eight years.

The water softener alternative was trialled on a small scale first, with two units over four months. Once scale reduction was observed on the heating elements and maintenance requirements fell across the water heaters, larger HydroFLOW® i Range units were rolled out across the resort’s other systems. The installation has been running for over eight years.
