Cement plant nozzle scale on a high-pressure spray system
Cement plant nozzle scale meant a plant in the Middle East was cleaning between four and eight spray nozzles every day. Hard water and extreme heat accelerated scale formation, the cartridge filters ahead of the nozzles were clogging too, and the system ran at 45 to 60 bar, so every blocked nozzle mattered. In 2009 one HydroFLOW® C120 was fitted to the nozzle supply line after the cartridge filters. Scale stopped forming, all 24 nozzles stayed clear and the filters stopped clogging, ending the daily cleaning routine. The 2009 installation is still referenced today.
The Challenges
- Cement plant nozzle scale meant 4 to 8 spray nozzles were cleaned every day
- Cartridge filters ahead of the nozzles were clogging with scale
- Hard water was accelerating scale formation
- Extreme heat made scaling conditions worse still
- The system ran at 45 to 60 bar, so blockages had real consequences
The Solution
- Unit installed: one HydroFLOW® C120
- Installation point: nozzle supply line, after the cartridge filters
- Installed: 2009
- System: 24 spray nozzles at 45 to 60 bar
- Water: hard, in extreme heat
The unit was fitted to the nozzle supply line after the cartridge filters, treating the water on its way to all 24 nozzles. The signal disrupts the conditions that bond scale to surfaces. With the nozzles and the filters staying clear at 45 to 60 bar, cement plant nozzle scale stopped being a daily maintenance job.
