Indiana Hospital: Legionella Below 1 CFU/mL in 16 Days

Home 9 Case Studies and Results 9 Indiana Hospital: Legionella Below 1 CFU/mL in 16 Days
Key results
<1 CFU/mL in 16 days
15 months stable results
$75k treatment system avoided

Case Study from HydroFLOW USA

The Challenge

  • Quarterly tests showed Legionella above the 1 CFU/mL target
  • Average contamination level reached 7 CFU/mL
  • Flushing and equipment replacement were expensive
  • A $75,000 treatment system was being considered

The Solution

A HydroFLOW® i100 was installed in July 2022 on the 4 inch potable water line entering the building, with a HydroFLOW® S38 serving 14 ice machines, as part of a 90 day proof of concept. Treatment reduces the biofilm growth linked to Legionella, so counts fell to 1 CFU/mL or non detectable within 16 days.

Key Outcomes

R

Legionella fell from 7 CFU/mL to below 1 CFU/mL

R

Results remained stable after 15 months

R

Most samples non detectable within 16 days

R

Proposed $75,000 treatment system not required

Independent Verification

All results in this study were measured and verified by third-party facilities managers and technical staff.
