Chile Copper Mine: Scale Cut on 6–30 Inch Pipelines

Home 9 Case Studies and Results 9 Chile Copper Mine: Scale Cut on 6–30 Inch Pipelines
Key results
Reduced scale build-up
Reliable flowmeter readings
200m pipeline coverage

Case Study from HydroFLOW Chile

The Challenge

  • Scale buildup increased pumping energy demand
  • Flowmeters produced inaccurate readings
  • Pipes required costly replacement work
  • Pipe replacement caused water loss and downtime
  • Valves and controls became difficult to operate

The Solution

HydroFLOW® units were installed externally on copper mining pipelines from 6 inch to 30 inch (152mm to 762mm) diameter carrying process, effluent and return water. The signal disrupts the conditions that bond scale to surfaces, so deposits reduce and flowmeters, valves and pumps stay operational without chemicals or mechanical cleaning.

Key Outcomes

R

Improved water flow through pipelines

R

Pipes, valves and pumps stayed operational longer

R

Flowmeters maintained accurate readings

R

No chemicals or mechanical cleaning required

Independent Verification

All results in this study were measured and verified by third-party facilities managers and technical staff.
