Case Study from HydroFLOW Canada
The Challenge
- Boiler water treatment ROI had to be proven before a wider portfolio rollout
- Visible scale build-up developed within three months on a relatively new boiler
- Scale threatened boiler heat-transfer efficiency
- The system relied on Parafoss chemical dosing
- Energy and operating costs were projected to rise
The Solution
Two HydroFLOW® i60 units were installed on the 11-storey residential building, on two 2-inch copper pipes, one before the boiler pump inlet and one on the cold make-up water line, with the pilot running from 30 January to 23 July 2020 on the Futura boiler serving roughly 180 rental units. Final photographic inspection found the boiler heat-transfer surfaces clear of deposits, with no new scale and no corrosion in the tubes. Parafoss dosing was no longer required, and the report calculated minimum annual savings of $11,639.16 and a two year payback.
